intending to set up a manufacturing project in Malaysia is the Malaysian
Industrial Development Authority (MIDA), the government's principal agency
for the promotion and coordination of industrial development. MIDA assists
potential with information regarding government policies and procedures,
tax incentives, infrastructure and potential joint-venture partners. When
a project proposal is submitted, MIDA evaluates applications for a
manufacturing license, tax incentives, employment of expatriate personnel,
duty exemption for equipment, machinery and so on. To facilitate the
implementation of projects, MIDA's Advisory Services Centre has senior
representatives from key government agencies such as the Ministry of
Finance, the Ministry of Human Resources, the Immigration Department, the
Royal Customs and Excise Department, the Department of Environment and the
Department of Occupational Health and Safety, to provide advice and
